The Essential Brushes for Mandala Art

1. Fine Liner / Detail Brush

• A fine, sharp tip — essential for detail work. Test by wetting the brush and checking that it comes to a clean point.
• Good paint retention — the brush should hold enough paint to complete a stroke without running dry mid-line.
• Snap and spring — the bristles should return to their original shape after each stroke. A brush that splays or loses its shape quickly will frustrate you.
• Comfortable handle — mandala painting sessions can be long and meditative. A handle that feels good in your hand makes a real difference.

Caring for Your Brushes

Good brushes are an investment, and with the right care they'll last for years. Always rinse your brushes thoroughly after each session — acrylic paint dries quickly and can permanently stiffen bristles if left. Reshape the tip while the brush is still damp, and store brushes upright or flat (never tip-down in a jar of water).
